This summer, we are auditioning for a new TENOR

Also, we are looking to fill deputy positions for all voice parts – Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass

About North8

North8 is formed of professional, postgraduate and undergraduate singers and conductors based in the north of England. Our aim is to create a space where we can develop our ensemble choral skills by exploring a broad range of choral repertoire and performing together in a semi-professional capacity, with voices either one or two to a part.

We rehearse once a month on a Sunday afternoon in Leeds (September-July), with an extra rehearsal just before each of our concerts, totalling just 13 rehearsals across the year. This schedule is designed to fit around the busy life of a musician with other commitments and enables some of our singers to travel from further afield. We hold tri-annual concerts, as well as performing at weddings across the year.

North8 Choir is semi-professional: our singers attend fun, challenging monthly rehearsals and perform concerts simply because it is our passion to sing together. However there are ever-growing opportunities for our singers to perform at paid events such as weddings (£70 per musician) and also to run paid singing workshops/cover choir rehearsals throughout the year (£100-140 per rehearsal).

A number of our singers have experience in choral conducting, so we often work collaboratively to suggest new repertoire to sing. There is also the opportunity to arrange or compose music for the ensemble, if you are interested in doing so.

Would you like to sing with us?

We are looking for a Tenor to join us permanently from September, as well as Deputy Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses who can deputise for some of our North8 concerts and gigs. Singers invited to audition will have a high level of sight-reading and musicianship as well as previous experience of solo and ensemble singing. The Tenor will also be exceptionally reliable and able to commit to all of our rehearsals and concerts for a minimum of 1 year.

Auditions are very informal and will take place in late August and early September. If you are keen to develop as an ensemble singer and would like to meet others from in and around Leeds with a similar passion, we would love to hear from you!

To request an audition, please email with a short paragraph detailing your performance experience. Please express an interest in auditioning by no later than 28th August 2019. Our first rehearsal is in September so we reserve the right to close applications once we have found suitable candidates, and July/early August applications are preferred.
